Sustainability

In 2020, the NHS became the world’s first health service to commit to reaching net zero carbon. Following this ambition, NHS organisations have been working to translate national ambition into local action – through the development of green plans.

Climate change poses a significant threat to our health, and reducing harmful carbon emissions will improve health and save lives.

The contribution we make as a Trust is extremely important in the long term.

At Bedfordshire Hospitals, we have a Board approved Green Plan in place and are continuing to strive in making sure we make a difference, with involvement from staff, patients, visitors, partners and the suppliers we work with.

Take a look at number of initiatives we have already implemented as we look to achieve net zero carbon.
