Safe Staffing Levels

We are committed to providing high quality, safe and compassionate nursing care for all our patients. To ensure that we deliver this, we need to make sure we have the right staff with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time.

This is in response to the Francis Report which called for greater openness and transparency in the health service.

What do we do to check that our staffing levels are safe?
Every six months we review the numbers of Registered Nurses, Midwives and Care Assistants we have working in our wards. We then decide if there is a need to improve our staffing levels and also how our nursing and midwifery staff can deliver care to our patients in the most effective way.

Every day we review our staffing levels to ensure they are safe. We are also displaying a poster for patients and visitors in our wards that shows the planned, and actual staffing levels for our wards.

If you want to talk to anyone about staffing or you have any questions, the Ward Sister or Matron will be happy to help
