In the Carbon Management Plan, adopted in April 2012, the Trust committed to a target of reducing CO2 by 30% by 2016 from a baseline year of 2010.
Capital investment of £140k was approved in the first delivery year to implement three energy efficiency projects as identified in the CMP:
The three projects had a combined payback period of 2.5 years and will reduce our carbon emissions by 596 tCO2 (17% of CO2 saving target annually).
We also run internal campaigns to promote energy efficient behaviours – 10 Golden Rules that staff can follow on a daily basis, such as switching off lights, computers & monitors and printer.
In the second delivery year the Trust was successful in securing funding from the NHS Energy Efficiency Capital Fund to deliver two schemes:
The two projects have a combined payback period of 4.2 years and will reduce our carbon emissions by 483 tCO2 (15% of CO2 saving target annually).
