Miss Shahnaz Akbar, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Lead for Fertility Centre, Subspecialist Reproductive Medicine & Surgery MBBS MRCOG/FRCOG MRCPI MSc (USS)
Miss Akbar is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist specialising in reproductive health, subfertility, male and female infertility, assisted conception therapies,IVF,ICSI IUI, IVF with Egg/Sperm donation and special interest in Male factor subfertility, Polycystic ovarian syndrome, Fibroids/Myomectomy, Miss Akbar also possesses a Masters in ultrasound scanning and offers gynaecological scans.
Miss Akbar started as a Fertility consultant at Kings College Hospital in 2005 moving to L&D in 2008 as a Consultant. Miss Akbar was trained in London at Guy’s & St Thomas’.
Mr Jude Jose MD, MRCOG Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Mr Jose is a Consultant Obstetrician and Fertility Specialist who has been working at the L&D University Hospital since January 2011. He has a special interest in the management of male infertility. Specialising in the management of women with Polycystic Ovary syndrome. Mr Jose trained in the North-East London Deanery. He has been trained in all assisted conception techniques including IVF, ICSI, IUI and reproductive surgeries at Homerton IVF centre in London.

Lead Gynae Nurse, trained at the L&D, has many years of experience and knowledge in gynaecology nursing as a Staff Nurse and as a Ward Manager.

A State Registered Biomedical Scientist who has worked at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital since 1989 within the disciplines of Blood Sciences and more recently Andrology.

An experienced medical secretary who has worked in Haematology within the NHS for over 15 years. Christine’s is now working as Miss Akbar’s Secretary in the Fertility Centre. Professional qualifications include RSAI level II and CLAIT.
Carol McSkimming, Medical Secretary
Experienced Medical Secretary to Mr Jose, Fertility Consultant, for over 3 years. Previously worked in Histopathology for 12 months and Obstetrics for 6 years, within the L&D University Hospital.
Paula Lavender, Senior Receptionist
Paula has worked at the L&D University Hospital for over 12 years. Previously a Receptionist in Gynaecology for 5 years.
Surinder Seera, Receptionist
Surinder has worked at the L&D Hospital for over 16 years as a Health Records Clerk. Her experience has also extended to working part-time as a Receptionist within the Maternity Department.
