L&D Public/Staff Governor Election 2019 – The process commenced on 11th June 

The Trust gives notice that it will hold Council of Governors Election 2019 of the Luton and Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust. Nomination closed on Tuesday 2 July 2019 at 5pm. The ballot papers were issued to the Trust Members in the eligible constituencies 19 July. The poll closed at 5pm on Thursday 8th August 2019.

Medical Lecture on ‘Arthritis – What is it & how is it managed?’, Wednesday 8 May

The lecture was well attended there were more than 300 members and patients who benefited. The lecture was presented by Consultants Dr Daniel Fishman, Dr Marian Chan and Physiotherapists Esam Mohamed.

Medical Lecture on Respiratory Care, Friday 12 October 2018, 5.30pm for 6pm start!
Time: 6.00pm – 7.30pm, Friday 12 October 2018
Venue: Luton Sixth Form College, Bradgers Hill Road, Luton, LU2 7EW.

The Respiratory Department at L&D Hospital offers a full inpatient and outpatient medical service, delivered by a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) which treats adults with conditions affecting the respiratory tract, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, respiratory infections and bronchiectasis, tuberculosis (TB), interstitial lung disease and sarcoidosis, pleural disease and sleep disorder. Diagnostic facilities are also provided for the majority of respiratory conditions.

The lecture was well attended there were approximately 120 members and patients who benefited. The lecture was presented by Consultants Dr Pillai and Dr James Ramsay, the Clinical Nurse Specialists Farida Parkar, Lizan Drummond and Mike McMahon and Chest Physiotherapist Helen Owen.

The Trust gives notice that it will hold Council of Governors Election 2018 of the Luton and Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust. Closing date for nomination was Friday 29th June 2018 at 5pm. The ballot papers were issued to the Trust Members in the eligible constituencies on 18th July. The polls closed at 5pm on Tuesday 14th August 2018.

Medical Lecture on Dementia Care
Time: 17.30 – 19.30, Wednesday 25th April 2018
Venue: Luton Sixth Form College, Bradgers Hill Road, Luton, LU2 7EW

More than 845,000 people in the UK have been diagnosed with dementia and it is reported that 25% of all hospital beds are occupied by a patient with a type of dementia. At the L&D the dementia team is committed to supporting people with dementia and their carers, to enable them to live well with dementia.

The lecture was well attended there were approximately 180 members, patients and carers who benefited. The lecture was presented by Dr Johan Schoeman, Dr Sen Kallumpuram, Dr Jeannette Fuller, Clare Warren and Yvonne Weldon.

Medical Lecture on Colorectal Surgery and Stoma Care Wednesday, 11 October 2017.
Time: 6.00pm – 7.30pm, Wednesday 11th October 2017
Venue: Luton Sixth Form College, Bradgers Hill Road, Luton, LU2 7EW.

The Stoma Service at the L&D Hospital looks after new patients with a newly formed stoma and receives referrals from other tertiary centres, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
Colorectal surgery is a field in medicine, dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. A stoma is an opening on the front of your abdomen (tummy) which is made using surgery. It diverts your faeces or urine into a pouch (bag) on the outside of your body. A stoma is a bud-like structure, which sits on the surface of your skin on your abdomen.
The lecture was well attended there were approximately 120 members and patients who benefited.

Medical Lecture on Stroke / Stroke Care Thursday, 27 April 2017.
The lecture was well presented by the Stroke team Dr Sekaran, Zoe and Jimmy. There were approximately 160 public members who attended. There was time for questions following the presentation.
