FT members help L&D’s drive for top quality patient care
In October of this year many readers of Ambassador newsletter took part in the biggest census, by a single hospital, of local public opinion.

In a drive to give our patients a top quality service we asked over 15,000 people to give us their “top line” thinking about the key issues that are important to hospital patients. Over 1,000 people responded with frank opinions about experiences at the L&D Hospital, good and bad.

The summary feedback from this census identified the following six key messages (in order of importance):

  1. the need to be friendly, sympathetic, caring and welcoming
  2. cleanliness
  3. delivery of high quality care and clinical outcomes
  4. clear and effective communication
  5. need to reduce waiting time in clinics and improve the appointments system
  6. need to improve the hospital’s buildings, facilities and car parking.

The L&D’s CEO, Pauline Philip, believes that partnership working is critical if we want to continue to drive up the quality of patient care and the patient experience. “By seeking views and opinions of our local public, patients and GPs we can ensure that the needs of patients come first at every stage of their treatment and follow up care,” said Pauline.
