The Limb Fitting Centre is a regional centre providing specialist knowledge and prosthetic services to lower limb amputee patients in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.
The dedicated staff of the L&D’s Limb Fitting team provide the highest quality prostheses and offer ongoing support and an on-site maintenance service.
The multidisciplinary team includes a Specialist Consultant in Amputee Rehabilitation, Clinical Psychologist Prosthetists, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Rehabilitation Engineer – all complemented by a team of highly skilled Technicians.
In addition to being the specialist unit, the centre provides physiotherapy sessions and practical occupational therapy and advice to local amputee patients.
Orthotic Services
Orthotics is a specialist medical service in which braces/supports are designed and fitted to an individual to provide one or more of the following:
Orthotic clinics are held within the Limb Fitting Centre and three satellite clinics in the Luton and Dunstable area.
The service also provides fitting of Breast Prosthesis and acrylic wigs.

Limb Fitting:
Referral to the service is usually through the surgical team following amputation. However, later referrals can be made by your GP or healthcare professional.
Orthotics:
Referral to the Orthotics team is through your GP.
