All Together to End COPD

15th November 2019

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) affects 1.2 million people in the UK, and millions more have it without being aware. It is an umbrella term used to described conditions such as Chronic Bronchitis, Emphysema and Chronic Asthma; conditions which make it harder for air to get in and out of the lungs.

This World COPD Day, on Wednesday 20th November, staff at the L&D will be joined by local smoking cessation advisers to raise awareness, test your lung health and offer advice on ways to stay well for longer. Come and visit the team in Main Reception from 9am to 4pm.

COPD is a progressive lung condition with no current cure, which can make life difficult and everyday tasks challenging. At the L&D, our Respiratory Team work together to ensure correct diagnosis and treatment is provided, as well as offering support to patients to help them slow the progression and manage their symptoms.

The L&Dā€™s Respiratory Team consists of consultants, nurse, physiotherapists, physiologists, pulmonary rehabilitation team, pharmacists, secretaries and support staff. They also work closely work the smoking cessation teams, community respiratory nurses and matrons, and GPs.
