Staff at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital have pledged their support for John’s Campaign, which recognises the important role carers have in the lives of people living with dementia.
The campaign was founded in 2014 and champions the right of carers to support their loved ones during their time in hospital.
Dementia Nurse Specialist, Yvonne Weldon, explained: “We recognise and value the role that carers have and, as a trust, we pledge to support them so that they can stay with their loved ones in hospital, for as long as is needed.”
She continued: “This means that they are not restricted to normal visiting hours but can visit whenever they like. We have also produced a Carers’ pack to be given to them with a Carer’s Pass which entitles them to concessionary parking and unrestricted visiting hours. In these small ways, we hope to really help support our carers of patients with dementia.”
