As part of our commitment to delivering the best patient care, we are continuing to invest in improving our hospital site and facilities.
The beginning of March will see work begin on the refurbishment of the MRI suite, with the first phase involving the installation of a third scanner. This work is expected to take around three months to complete. With the extra scanner, there will be a considerable reduction in waiting times for patients.
As a result of the construction work carried out to install the new scanning room, the main entrance to the hospital will be reduced to pedestrian and wheelchair access only. Those arriving by car during the three month period when construction work is underway will need to be dropped off at the Microbiology entrance (on Lewsey Road), which will be clearly signed as the temporary drop off area. A dedicated pedestrian walkway (200m) will also be made available from the Microbiology entrance to the hospital main entrance.
Patients arriving for appointments at the Renal unit by car between 1st March and 31st May will be directed to a temporary nearby car park. This will be clearly sign-posted and patients will receive details in appointment letters.
Please note that those arriving by taxi will be required to be dropped off and picked up at the St Mary’s entrance, located through the St Mary’s car park on Dunstable Road. Visits to the car park drop off area for less than 10 minutes are free.
We would like to thank all patients and staff for their patience while construction work is underway.
