Luton & Dunstable University Hospital was named as one of the top recruiting sites for September for a national breast cancer treatment trial.
The Oncology Research team is currently running the MAMMO-50 Study which is investigating the most effective and safest way of monitoring women over 50 who have had breast cancer surgery. This is a national study with 110 hospitals taking part and will eventually inform national guidelines about the best way to follow up women who have had breast cancer surgery.
National recruitment has now reached its half way appoint with more than 2,500 patients enrolled. Anette David, Oncology Research Sister, said: “We are really pleased that we have been recognised for our contribution to the national recruitment drive and we would like to thank all our patients taking part in clinical research at the L&D.”
For more information on the study call the Oncology Research Office on 01582 718 292.
