Personal Banking Managers from Nationwide branches in Bedfordshire volunteered to spend a day at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital (L&D) last week, helping to spruce up our Cancer and NICU units.
Ten members of staff from the Nationwide helped give a much needed new lease of life to the garden in our NICU parents’ accommodation, and the balcony area in our Cancer unit, helping to transform the areas for patients and families.
Sarah Amexheta, Fundraising Manager at the L&D, said: “We are very grateful to the staff from Nationwide who spent the day with us, helping to provide a much more welcoming environment for patients and visitors.”
Abir Miah from Nationwide added: “The team and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was a great feeling to leave with at the end of the day knowing we had made a little difference.
“At Nationwide we are always looking for ways to help support our local communities, this project really touched the hearts of the team involved as many have benefitted from the wonderful service provided by the hospital. The greatest part of it all was walking away feeling a sense of not only positivity and accomplishment but also the feeling of satisfaction in giving back.”
