Paediatrics (Children's Services)

Paediatrics is the medical specialty dealing with the development and care of children and with the diagnosis and treatment of childhood diseases.

The L&D provides a full range of Acute Paediatric Services with dedicated facilities in a child and parent-friendly environment.

About our Service

Most children are seen within the Children’s Outpatient Department where the staff and surroundings are designed for the comfort and fun of children – and their siblings.

We have seven General Paediatric Consultants, each of whom have special areas of interest.  They are complemented by five Locum Consultants, thus ensuring that there is hands-on Consultant cover 24 hours a day, every day.

Children admitted for Surgery

Parents of children who come into our Paediatric wards for surgery can rest assured that in addition to having the skills of a specialist surgeon, they will be constantly under the care of the dedicated Paediatric team.
