Cancer

At the Luton and Dunstable Hospital (L&D), 20% of people with a cancer diagnosis now take part in Clinical Trials / Research Studies.

The L&D has an active Cancer Research Team and you may be approached by your Consultant or a member of the Research Team with information about a Clinical Trial.

For details of cancer studies running at the L&D, please visit the Cancer Research UK website – then select ‘Luton’ in the box named ‘Location of trial’.

What is a Clinical Trial?
Medical Research Studies involving people are called Clinical Trials (please see this booklet for further information (please see this booklet for further information). Clinical Trials for cancer test new treatments, ways to reduce side-effects and control symptoms. They may also investigate the causes of cancer and new ways of preventing, screening for, or diagnosing the disease.
