Work Experience

We are pleased to have been able to welcome back placements across both sites since April 2022. We are only operating a limited pilot scheme at present. Placements can range across different clinical and non-clinical areas. A few important notes, if you are considering applying for work experience with us:

  • Work experience placements are only offered to students who are/will be a minimum of 16 years of age by the time of placement.
  • All onsite work experience placements at Luton and Dunstable Hospital and Bedford Hospital are coordinated through a centralised process / Team. Please do not approach hospital staff individually regarding placements as they will not be able to offer placements.
  • We receive lots of enquiries for work placement opportunities, while we want to support as many placements as possible, sometimes we are unable to accommodate a placement as there is not space in the area or the applicant has not allowed enough time to process all the necessary checks and clearance needed. We need a minimum of 6 weeks before placement date, to get through the full application process and plan in your placement.
  • Please be aware that there is a waiting list and forms need to be completed and returned within time frames requested. Failure to complete and return forms requested, will resulting placements not proceeding.

If you would like to apply for work experience or find out more, please email: work_experience@ldh.nhs.uk
